Since the game designer and programmer for Trailblazer, the project began with designing how our concept would work. We wanted to create an endless runner match where instead of the pads would move the personality we wanted the world around the personality to move. We decided to do this by creating patterns the participant needed to complete in order to move an obstacle and proceed. The goal was to survive as long as possible and you scored more points the quicker you were in completing the sequence. What was really fun about this one-week project was that the game design was happening while playing with a paper prototype. We maintained re-playing the match and were constantly adapting and changing the rules to make it more enjoyable and find no loopholes.

A lot of my time is spent on designing props that fill our colorful game world! We’re doing a mix of painterly props combined with more refined rendered ones. Concepting and prototyping a painterly feel into an isometric world has been a mission. To successfully pull this off I imported all the sprites individually and imported them into unity. I then compiled the sprites together and made custom pivot points for every sprite deciding where they would rotate. The final outcome is a completely customizable character animated through keyframes. For this prototype, I just wanted to earn a polished unique looking IP that would convey similar vibes to my inspirations.
